The Population and Immigration Authority has completed the 35-day 'Passport marathon', during which 455,680 people received service in all the offices. Of these, 230,437 received service at the four offices dedicated just for issuing passports and the office in Bnei Brak.
7,764 passport applications were received on the last day alone!!
As a result of the Passport Marathon, many appointments have become available for the coming months.
Now that the applications have been received, the Authority needs to use an efficient method to mail the passports to the public.
The Authority announced today that in order to optimize the service to the public and upgrade the experience, from today, 2nd July, 2023, the passports will be delivered to the applicants by the HFD distribution company, at collection points located throughout the country, instead of the post offices as has been done so far.
The basis of the policy, which is led by CEO Eyal Siso, is to facilitate the public as much as possible in the services provided by the authority.
In light of the above, people who have applied for a passport will receive a phone text message that the application has been accepted.
Later, another SMS message will be sent from the distribution company with the details of the most convenient collection point.
The introduction of the new service constitutes an important and significant improvement in the service provided by the Population Authority.
The CEO of the Authority, Eyal Siso, said "We are in 2023 and we are taking these steps as we must adapt ourselves to the innovation and progress of this time.
We intend to promote further significant moves, which will completely change the public's service experience."
