If you've been hearing claims that Israel is one of the most expensive countries to buy Coca Cola, here are the numbers:

According to the Global Product Prices.com site, in a survey in September 2022,  Israel was the 4th most expensive country to buy a 0.5 litre bottle of Coke, out of 91 worldwide. The average price is 0.94 USD. In Israel the price was 2.19 USD. The lowest price was 0.11 USD (Iran) and the highest price was 2.52 USD (Finland).

In USA the price was 0.76, and in the UK it was 1.98 USD. You can see the comparison chart attached above.

Coca Cola is not significantly more expensive than other bottled drinks in Israel. It is produced here, so there are no import taxes or duties.

The Minister of Economy, Nir Barkat, challenged Coca-Cola Israel, after it announced a price increase for all of its beverages, from Coca-Cola to beer, at a rate of approximately 6.7%. On Monday he sent a message to to the CEO the company, Nir Levinger, demanding to receive data that will reveal "why Coca-Cola prices in Israel are among the highest in the world".

The Inspector of Prices at the Ministry of Economy and Industry demanded that the Coca-Cola Israel Company disclose production quantities and sales quantities of cola products in Israel, product ingredients and quantities per product, packaging and transportation costs, the operating profit attributed to the company's Cola drinks sector for the years 2018 to 2022 and other data.
